County Fair – Series No. 2

The concept of the "county fair" was initiated by Elkanah Watson in 1811, a New England patriot and farmer. It was a competition for the best agricultural and domestic products of the county and/or community (or region or state), an annual celebration for the community to come together, to share, to learn. The term midway originated from the first world’s fair in Chicago in 1893 which had an area for amusements which was strictly separated from the exhibition halls. Over 200 years later, we still come to see, hear, touch, smell and taste the richness and variety of what the world has to offer.
