With the rural electrification drive during the New Deal came wire stringing and the need for linemen. The occupation evolved during the 1940s and 1950s with the expansion of residential electrification. Before long poles and lines changed our view of the skies. We think of the poles and lines we see as art. A line may divide space, define a form, describe contour, or suggest direction… or connection.
